If you have just searched for “How to Become a Naturist” or followed a link to this page, then the chances are that you are curious about becoming a naturist.
This is not surprising because nearly everyone has thought about, or considered the idea of going nude in a situation outside of ‘naked normality’ such as bed, bath, shower, sex or dressing.
However, for most people, the very idea of actually stripping off on a beach in front of strangers or even undressing in front of friends, would be enough to bring on palpitations.
As a result, the subject gets hidden, never to rear its ugly head unless someone says “Did you hear about so-and-so? – He (or she) has joined a naturist club!” Or gone on a naturist holiday, or maybe just went naked on Brighton nudist beach.
“Well I’d never have thought it! They are actually going on a nudist holiday? – they don’t seem the type, I always thought that they were quite nice!”
The above is a mixture of reactions that I have heard over the years, although sometimes you will get a positive reaction such as “Good for you” or “I wish I had the courage!”
Faced with such potentially negative reactions, is it any wonder that most naturists want to keep this part of their life very secret?
Moreover, are we to be surprised that many budding naturists find the leap from ‘Textile’ (non-naturists) to being a card carrying member of their local naturist club to be a bit daunting?
So, how to become a naturist…
Surely that’s easy, just rip off your clothes and that’s that!
Well you might get some funny looks and you’ll probably get arrested, or at least told to put your clothes back on, if you decide to divest yourself in public. Or if you decide just to be naked at home (no problem, many people do) you may find that it just isn’t enough. There are things that you can’t do in the confines of your own home, such as socialise whilst naked, go for long nude walks, swim without a swimming costume, sunbathe naked, meet like-minded nudists and so on…
But how to get there…what should my first step be, how do I actually become a naturist?
…and stop just being a closet nudist…
If it’s any consolation, the first step is the worst, in most peoples experiences, making that huge leap from a so-called normal clothed individual, to being a confident naturist who not only can enjoy basking naked in the sun and enjoy all the wonderful freedom of swimming in the nude, but can also hold court to a bunch of naked strangers whilst being clad in nothing but bare skin.
Believe it or not, it’s not a big deal once you have made that leap, but the thought of the leap is way too much for many people.
Don’t worry, help is at hand, there is a book that has just been published called: ‘How to Become a Naturist‘ by Kelly Dixon which will definitely help sooth your journey from being a clothed, repressed wannabe, to freedom loving nudist, with a bunch of like-minded naturist friends to enjoy your new life with.
This book will take you on your first baby steps on the naturism journey, and will hold you by the hand as you explore subjects such as:
‘Where to go naked for the first time.’
‘How to approach the local naturist club for membership, especially if you are a single guy!’
‘The best and safest place for a single lady to go and enjoy the naturist experience.’
‘What to tell your friends (if anything) about your new naturist lifestyle.’
‘The whereabouts of naturist clubs and nudist locations.’
‘What to do if you are approached by swingers!’
And so much more!

Should I feel awkward about being nude in front of my mom and dad.
Hi Susan
it depends on your Mom and Dad in the first instance. Would they feel awkward if you were naked in front of them? If so, then don’t do it. Naturist is all about respect for self and other people.
If your parents are naturists themselves, then, if you are okay with being nude in front of them, do it! You will feel a bit strange for the first few minutes but after, you won’t even notice.
Let us know how you get on.
I like to be nude with nude people maximum two’ weeks

Hi, i have been naked around home for years and decided about 6 years ago i would tell my friends, if they object about me being naked then i will stay clothed around them but to my surprise no one did object and now im naked most the time, i still dress when needed, not so much for me but to ensure others are comfortable.
