Situated on the southern western tip of France, near to Montpellier, Cap d’agde is easy to get to, with the Montpellier international airport at hand, and with Agde railway station about 5 miles from the village.
Right outside the railway station, there are buses that run to the gates of Cap d’agde (after a detour)
The nudist village of Cap d’agde plays host to around 40,000 people at any time in the season.
Once checked in, there is little reason to visit anywhere else, as every need is catered for. There are a wide variety of shops and restaurants in the village,and as a newcomer, it may feel strange wandering around a small supermarket, carrying a shopping basket, wearing just your skin.
But you quickly get used to it, and after a day or so, (or an hour) you feel at home.
Cap d’agde has excellent facilities including swimming pools, a large camping sitand beach bar/restaurants, and there plenty of bars and night clubs to round off a pleasant evening.
There is a long, sandy stretch of beach which is ideal for nude families to play and swim. Much, much further along the beach, it tends to be adults only, and sometimes there will be some exhibitionistic behaviour, which is sometimes met with rounds of applause. As this conduct happens so far along the beach it is unlikely that walkers would stumble upon it by accident, and if they did, it’s a case of carry on walking, turning your head and admiring the sea view!
The end of the beach where the main complex is, is just like any conventional beach in the world, except for the fact that nearly everyone is naked.
Nudity does not appear to be compulsory, except on the ‘adults beach’ and some people are content to remain in the nude for their entire holiday. Most people, however go naked during the day but ‘dress up’ for the evening.
Dressing up take three forms, when going out into the complex in the evening, you can stay naked if you wish, but because the vast majority are wearing at least something, you may feel uncomfortable. Holiday style shorts and tee shirts are perfectly acceptable, however, the evenings are when certain styles of clothing or apparel come into their own!
It makes for an excellent evenings entertainment to observe people wearing some really theatrically sexy outfits, on their way to their chosen night-venue.
From a stunning female wearing nothing but a diamond dog collar being led with a chain by two men, to the more traditional basque and stockings, nothing is taboo, and if you forgot to pack your sexy leather outfit, there are plenty of fashion shops offering whatever style you wish, at reasonable prices.
Dressing sexily in the evenings doesn’t mean that you are a ‘swinger’ but just having a fun night out.
If you are into the swinging scene, if you look for it, you’ll probably find it. Just like anywhere else.
A holiday at Cap d’agde, overall, makes for one of the most relaxing holidays that you’ll ever have, and you’ll want to come back. Here’s a tip, leave the mobile phone behind, and just enjoy the naked paradise.
About 5 or 6 Kilometres from the Cap d’agde naturist village, is the actual town of Agde, which is the municipal town for Cap d’agde, and is one of the oldest towns in France, going back around 2500 years.
Do yourself a favour; don’t bother walking from the naturist village to the town. Yes it’s true that 5 or 6 Kilometres is not very far, but it’s not a pleasant walk, comprising of a mixture of roads, fields and perilous dashes over busy junctions.
Anyway, there are plenty of buses or taxis.
Once you have arrived, you will agree that the town of Cap d’agde is worth visiting, with a plethera of excellent restaurants, cafes and bars, the beautiful dated architecture, churches and plenty more to see.
There is a regular market, which in itself will steal a couple of hours, even if you are not a shopper!
Walking along the Herault river that divides the town and eventually leads into the Mediterranean is in itself a unique pleasure.
